RSHE Curriculum
Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education
We want all children to grow up healthy, happy, safe, and able to manage the challenges and opportunities of modern Britain. That is why, from September 2020, all primary age children will be taught Relationships and Health Education (RSE). These subjects are designed to equip your child with knowledge to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships as well as preparing them for a successful adult life.
“Today’s children and young people are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives seamlessly on and offline. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive way.”

In October 2022, Miss Flynn, our PSHE and RSE Lead, invited parents to a meeting to discuss the objectives and share some resources for their child's year group for the new RSE curriculum. All objectives from the 'Growing and Changing' unit for each year group will taught during the Summer term. The key objectives are taught in a way that is tailored to the age and the physical and emotional maturity of the pupils in each class at our school and we recognise that this work is vital to support children’s development and that it is most effective when we work in partnership with parents and carers.
A further meeting will be held by our new PSHE Lead Mrs Airey in Spring 2023.
When is this being taught in 2023/24?
During the Summer term, Year 1 and 2 will be taught the correct terms for parts of the body. Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will all be taught their year group's unit of 'Changing Me’. A letter will be sent out to parents regarding the aspects that your child will be taught at the end of the Spring term.
If you require any more information on how we teach the RSHE curriculum at Peel Park, please speak to Mrs Airey.
